Idea Napkin #1: Clean Up

1) Me.
My name is Garrett. Talents include organization, attention to detail, quick learner. I have worked for for multiple companies on short term basis and I am just graduating this year. If I started this business I would need to find someone who could help implement it for not a lot of money and find someone who has connections to the carriers.
2) What am I offering to customers?
I am offering something that helps people save time in their day to day lives and makes it more convenient. Instead of spending time on the phone or internet or in the store rerouting packages or trying to set up when to pick up my product will be streamlining all of this in one location on your phone.
3) Who am I offering it to?
I am offering this not to one specific demographic but to anyone who ships packages or business who ship packages as well. It is two fold in consumer and business applications.
4) Why do they care?
On the customer/consumer side it saves them hassle and time by rerouting a package or getting updates as to where it is or where they left it. In business this helps streamline shipping and if its going B2B it is even more critical that they stay on time.
5) What are my core competencies?
It is more of a core competency in the way that we will help streamline and shorten length times. We also deal with customer service so we help save the businesses like USPS, Fedex and UPS by saving them from paying more customer service providers.

I think that the idea itself is a very convenient one and would work well if I could get in front of the companies. The weakness is the coding aspect and trying to find someone to help me in that because that costs a lot of money.

  1. Hi Garrett, I think your idea for a consultant service for shipping/mail service is a very unique idea. Some of the idea might be confusing to someone who might not do a lot of mailing through the services you described above. Maybe when you pitch the idea to someone, try and describe that you will be a service that consultants to the business and through the customer on the mobile app. Seems like this came easy to you! 2. Garrett, this is a pretty good idea! The shipping industry is huge and if you could get a company like Amazon to use this service I think it could be revolutionary. Isn't this similar to the package tracking that UPS does though? Check out my blog post here: http://keifermcclainent3003.blogspot.com/2016/02/idea-napkin-1.html

  3. Hi Garrett!

Any way to streamline shipping and increase accessibility would be a useful service. Especially in a society that is infatuated with convenience and as e-commerce continues to grow, I think this has great potential if you could get the right people to help implement it.

On an unrelated note, your font is showing up in two different colors so you have to highlight parts of it to read the full text. Just something to look into for the next post so people don’t miss part of your blog!

  4. Hey Garrett! I like your idea because I think it would help immensely for businesses and customers to be able to follow their shipments. I think you're really on to something with this idea because I think it's something small that these large companies need, but they don't really think about in their day-to-day operations. I think if you keep pushing with this you could really achieve some success. Check out my idea napkin at: http://sowersent3003.blogspot.com/2016/02/idea-napkin-no-1.html

  5. Hey Garrett!
The trend these days is definitely heading towards being more efficient and being more customer friendly. As we move from a production based society to a customer service based market, making things user friendly and saving money and time is the number one priority. I know I've wasted countless hours on the phone waiting for customer service reps to become available, so I would love apps that would make that more convenient. I think this is a great idea for tracking any packages, and it would be through any company, all on the same app, instead of all the different companies having different apps, which would be annoying. I dont have a napkin idea post, but check out my blog:
